Anesthesiologist (b. 1939). Owens received his medical degree from the University of Michigan in 1965. Following a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy, he trained in anesthesiology at Massachusetts General Hospital before serving on the faculty at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Owens came to Washington University in 1973; he served as chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology from 1982-1992 and is currently Professor emeritus of Anesthesiology.
